The beach wells seawater intake is an efficient solution to increase the quality of the water to be delivered to the desalination plant thanks to the sand natural water filtering. They are used in Countries where water scarcity makes desalinization an important source of water supply, as in this case of this plant in OMAN. 

The heavy duty operating conditions, given by the corrosive action of the high grade salinity water in combination with the abrasive action of the sand, made necessary the use of machines with very resistant materials.

Through a deep study about corrosion proof materials, in cooperation with the Engineering and Manufacturing departments; special submersible electric pumps have been developed for this project, manufactured entirely in Superduplex steel. Pumps and motors are then absolutely performing, immune to external agents and thus able to guarantee the continuity of service that this important application requires.
